So I have always seen the box of "Hamburger Pasta" on supermarket shelves, and wondered why can't we make a vegetarian or vegan version of it, paired with some lip smacking Indian spices, kind of like the classic McDonald's Aalo Tikki burger, sans the potato(aalo), and today was the day! I was alone at home, and was craving for some spicy, full of proteins - vegetables and yet a simple dish! and here it was! My Vegetarian Hamburger Pasta!
I used soya granules to make it vegetarian, and you can use your own choice of proteins!
So let's make it!
Ingredients :-
Onion - half, diced
Green Chilies - 2-3, finely chopped
Ground Soya - 1 cup
Carrot - 1, shredded, or you can use Zucchinis
Peas - 1/2 cup, boiled
Olive oil - 2 tbsp
Coriander powder - 2 tbsp
Garam Masala - 1.5 tbsp
Chili Powder - 1 tsp
Garlic Powder - 2 tsp
Pasta - 1 cup, of your own choice. I used "Gemelli"
Vegetable Broth - 1/2 cup. Use water if you don't have it.
Milk - 2 cups
Salt - as per taste
Cheese - 1/3 cup, any kind. I used Parmesan.
And lastly because it's a "burger" pasta! We need ~ Ketchup, again of your choice. I used the Maggie - hot and sweet
Step 1 : Chop everything, and then grab a good heavy base pan, and pour oil in it.
Step 2 : Put the chilis, and onion and sauté for a while until the onions are translucent. Then put in the soya granules. Fry all this for 2-3 minutes.
Step 3 : Now add in the spices and the salt, and cook for sometime, about 3 minutes. Just so that all the spices are cooked.
Step 4 : Now add in the dry pasta, and fry it for a little bit, and then add in the shredded carrots and the peas.
Step 5 : Now add the vegetable broth/water and the milk and let the pasta cook for 10 minutes.
Step 6 : After the pasta is al-dente, add the cheese and the ketchup. Ketchup should be about 1/3 cup, or less, as per your choice. Cook again for sometime! and voila!! Garnish with some herbs and enjoy!
