The Spiked Tea we all deserve | The Long Island Iced Tea

Updated: Jul 29, 2023

Ok, so much alcohol goes into this drink, So. Much !!

I remember, one time at Studio Movie Grill, while watching the dreaded movie "The Nun", I ordered two of these, and the very scary movie turned out to be a comical experience for me. The extremely disturbing and disfigured face of the Nun, was making me laugh, but it was actually the alcohol in me that made everything in the movie seem hilarious. Then again some people might have found the movie funny anyway with or without the alcohol.

But the point is, this is one hell of a drink, and just one glass full of this phenomenal drink is enough to rock your night. Haha!

I tweaked the classic recipe slightly, and it makes all the difference. The idea is not to make the drink too sweet, otherwise, the kick from the alcohol would disappear in the taste, and towards the end of the drink, it just feels like you're drinking a really sweet Coca-Cola. I also used agave syrup instead of sugar.

So here's the recipe, for 2 glasses full of Long Island Iced Tea

Step 1 : Gather the ingredients

  1. Silver Tequila

  2. White Rum

  3. Vodka

  4. Orange Liqueur

  5. Gin

  6. Coca-Cola - 1 can

  7. 2 whole lemons - squeeze one and get the juice. Make lemon wheels with the second one.

  8. Organic Agave Syrup (please don't use straight up sugar, if you don't want a thumping, splitting head ache the next day.)

  9. Basic shaker set, jigger, stirrer

  10. Two Tall glasses

Step 2 : Take two tall glasses and add loads of ice to both. Also take the shaker, and add 4-6 cubes of ice into it.

Step 3 : Now comes the fun part. The alcohol!! If you're using a jigger, take the big measurement side of the jigger which is 2oz, and add according to the following proportions in the shaker.

  1. Silver Tequila - 1.5 oz

  2. White Rum - 1.5 oz

  3. Vodka - 1.5 oz

  4. Orange Liqueur- 1.5 oz

  5. Gin - 1.5 oz

Step 4 : Juice one lemon and add it, and agave syrup

  1. Lemon juice - 1.5 oz

  2. Organic agave syrup - 1 oz

Step 5 : Now shake shake shake!!!

Step 6 : Pour the drink in the glasses and add half the can of Coca-Cola in one glass and half in the other.

Step 7 : Stir the drink, to mix the Coca-Cola and add lemon wheels on the side of the glass.

Step 8 : Drink up!! Ha-ha. Pair it with some nice Cape Cod classic salted chips and some green chutney!
